Surface Preparation:
All surfaces should be dried, cleaned and free from all contaminants. In bonding of metals, the surface preparation of faying surfaces stands alone as a basic absolute requirement for success. Mechanical treatment such as sandblasting, abrading or sanding are used for prior to joining adhesively because of simplicity or economics; however, when compared with etchant processes, the chemical treatments produced higher reliability and longer service life in a bonded assembly.
